Northern Lights

After a long and bright period with midnightsun, the evenings now are dark again. This allows us to see the beautiful northern lights.

Solar Eclipse

Today we had the first total solar eclipse on Norwegian ground since the eclipse in 1954. On the mainland we observed a partial eclipse, while the day becomes night for a short period in Kvitøya (North-east of Spitsbergen). Read more.

At our latitude we had 71% of the sun covered. When it was at the best it was totally clouded, but we saw it before:

Petronella

Our tiny (but still "huge") darling, Petronella, 3 weeks old :)

Polar Zoo

Yesterday we went to the Polar Zoo - a nice experience as always.

They only have arctic animals, and keep them in such large cages that it is advisable to follov the feeding round to be able to see the shy animals.

Trip to the pot holes in Dividalen

This week we have had a couple that has been here several times before, staying here.

They have been on varyous expeditions in the area. One day we went to the pot holes in Dividalen river, near the Dividalen national park. Nature here ia stunning.

These youngsters are going to be really good sleddogs! The cat is not very found of the dogs,

but preferes to have close contact to the dogs through the window.

Just winter

Snow and ice is fun and nice :)
The sun has finally come back, the days are so bright and are getting longer and longer each day.

A trip on their own to find a lost knife. We had recently had some more snow, so it didn't show up....... but at least they had some fresh air :)

Fantastic clouds

Yesterday we had wonderful colours in the clouds. The colours reflected in the snow, on the houses etc.

We have had very little snow so far this winter, but today we finally got a lot :) Weather forecast promises more the coming days....

Fishers and hunters from Tromsø

This weekend some friends from Tromsø came to our place for a social gathering. They were very lucky as we had a marwellous northern light show ;)
