Hard conditions

This week we have had mild weather which made the tracks very hard and icy. It was a challenge to sledge since the sledge runs very fast and it is hard to brake.

Iditarod

The sleddog race Iditarod in Alaska started last weekend.
A Norwegian competitor, Robert Sørlie won Iditarod in 2003 and 2005.
At the moment he is number 13, but it isn't over yet. No matter, there is a lot of teams out there: now they are 63, 19 has scratched for various reasons.

Another norwegian taking part in the race is Sigrid Ekran. She is the best rookie so far in 2007. She is at the moment number 18.

Sledging along the river

Sledging along the Fjellfroskelven (wolverine river) to the Fjellfroskvannet (wolverine lake).

We had a short break, made a fire and had a cup of tea and some food before we continued.

Total Lunar Eclipse

Saturday the moon gradually was covered by the shadow from the earth. In the end it was red instead of white. Very fascinating to watch.

Northern lights

The other night we had some amazing northern lights. Martin - our guest, finally had the chance to test his brand new camera, and he seemed pleased.

Snowdrift

Yesterday we had a long trip in the mountain, and it was very windy.

We even saw some reindeer.

A lot of snow - tractor clearing the road

Yesterday we woke up to a lot of snow.

Luckily we have a tractor to clear the roads.
