End of 2007

We had some snow early in the winter, but two weeks before christmas it started raining and it didn't stop until the 25th of Descember.

This is how it looks like today: not much snow, but icy and cold ;-) Today it is minus 17 degrees celcius.

Our wish for 2008 is a lot of snow....... :)

The first snow

Four days ago we had this winter's first snow. Some flowers are still alive, but not for long.
The dogs love the snow and subzero temperatures.
Nala after a dive in the snow :) Cute puppy?

Puppies are growing

We are now 1 month old. We have started to eat a little bit and are getting more and more active :)

Northern lights :)

Thursday evening we saw the first really good northern lights this autum. During summer, midnightsun and bright nights it is not possible to see them at all.

The Firehouse

We have had an unusual warm and dry summer, but now autum is here. Midnightsun is gone a long time ago and the evenings are dark again.
We have already had 3 nights with frost, and many of our flowers then died. The first snow in the mountains came 2 weeks ago.

These photos are from an evening the moon was shining for us. First picture is taken early in the evening. Second is taken a bit later, after the frost arrived.

Puppies :-)

Because of reducing the number of dogs, it is now 2 years since the last litter. 4 days ago Petra (and Tabbe) had a litter of 4 puppies - all bitches. They were all in good shape and are just adorable!

Summer, fishingtrips with the kids and the dogs

To be honest, it is mainly our son who likes to fish. Odd Knut helps him out, our daughter do different other things, and I bring a dog....
Camp by the Fjellfroskvannet - where we often sledge during the winter.
Inka on a trip to Langvannet.
...and Inuk at Solvolltjønna. He really vanted to catch the floater :-)

Beautiful Lofoten

In the middle of May, we spent a week in the Lofoten Islands. We did unfortunately not focus on photographing the steep mountains and birdlife, but we took severals of the midnight sun...

This sledge has been on many trips, and is now very pleased with the fact that the season is over.

Spring

The snow is melting fast. Our roads looks like rivers at the moment.

Uphills the melting water makes small creeks in the rotten snow.

Lately we have had very mild weather, we even had heavy rain. The swans are back in a calm river. They have a stop here for a couple of weeks every spring.

Local ladies dogsledding

Saturday 9 ladies from the village came for dogsledging and social gatering at Skjærhaugen. Got photos of most of them:

Video Red fox

It is often lurking around the house. Not very shy, it would steal food if we left it outside. Earlier this winter it destroyed two snowlights the kids had made, and chewed on the candles to find out what it was.

It takes a while packing and preparing all the sledges before take off.

Hard conditions

This week we have had mild weather which made the tracks very hard and icy. It was a challenge to sledge since the sledge runs very fast and it is hard to brake.
